Kadai mushroom is a delicious vegan mushroom curry that is cooked in a kadai or Indian wok. This mushroom masala turns delicious due to the spicy masala in which the mushrooms are cooked.
This mushroom kadai masala recipe is ideal to make for parties or special occasions. It can be served for lunch wit broccoli rice or prawns pulao or can be served for dinner wit roti, bread, poori or chapati. You might be interested in other Mushroom recipes for chapati like mushroom xacuti.

Let us see the ingredients which goes in making the recipe of mushroom sabzi:
- Mushroom: Button mushrooms are used in making this delicious mushroom masala.
- Vegetables: Vegetables like onion, tomato and capsicum are added in this mushroom kadai recipe.
- Kadai mushroom masala: Spices like black pepper corn, cinnamon, bay leaf, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chillies, tamarind and kasuri methi are added to make the spicy mushroom curry.
- Coconut: Freshly grated coconut is added in this recipe to make the masala curry.
How to make kadai mushroom masala?
- In a kadai, add 2 tablespoons of oil. Fry the 3/4 of the quantity of chopped onions and when they turn pinkish. Add garlic and fry till the raw smell of garlic get emitted.
- Add the spices like black pepper corn, cinnamon bay leaf, coriander seeds, cumin seeds and dry red chilies and fry for some time.
- Mix the grated coconut and fry till it turns brownish.
- Add tamarind and switch off the heat.
- Now add turmeric powder and mix well.
- After cooling, grind it to a fine paste.
- Now in a separate utensil, add 1 tablespoon oil and fry the remaining 1/4 of chopped onion and when they turn pinkish add tomato. When tomato gets mushy add capsicum and fry for 5 minutes. Add the mushroom pieces and fry for 10 minutes.
- Now pour the gravy and let it get cooked for another 5-10 minutes. Add salt to taste
- Garnish with kasuri methi and chopped coriander leaves.
Kadai Mushroom
Ingredients
- 10 button mushrooms chopped into this pieces
- 1 big onion julienned
- 4-5 garlic pods peeled and chopped
- 4 tablespoon coconut grated
- 5 black pepper corns
- 1/2 inch cinnamon
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds jeera
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 small marble sized ball tamarind
- 4-5 dry red chilies
- 1 small sized t omato
- 1 medium sized capsicum
- Pinch of kasuri methi dried fenugreek leaves
Instructions
