Now was my turn to thank lord Ganesha. I went to temple and offered my prayers of thanks. I felt that he smiled and winked at me and said ” Go Dear, go and fulfil your promise. ” Now was a big task which lied ahead of feeding 11 hungry souls. Â I came back home and told the same incident to my hubby. At first even he was tensed. He literally said why I had to make such a promise to Lord Ganesha. I told him that it was only cause of his promotion which was getting stuck every time. Then he too felt that maybe Lord Ganesha helped him due to my promise and he agreed to help me arrange a lunch for 11 souls. Just then another thought came to my mind, why not keep a small get-together in a farm-house on the out-skirts of Bangalore?
We made a list of invitees and told them that we are hosting a party. We decided that the venue should be anything but not our home. We arranged for a tempo traveler to take us to the venue. All of us traveled together. This also ensured that we all meet and have fun all through the way. We also decided that we all will start from our home in the morning and reach the venue by 11.00 AM. We told everyone not to have their breakfast. Instead of packing meals or having in a road side dhaba, I decided to get packed meals from Kitchens of India.
It was so easy, I just logged on to their website. The website was easy to navigate and has lots of options both for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. My heart was filled with happiness when I saw that shipping above Rs.450/- was free.
For breakfast I decided that I can buy some bread from local shop and order my choice of chutneys and jams from Kitchens Of India website. The first jam that I chose was Strawberry & Mint Conserve, Tamarind & Date Chutney & Shredded Mango Chutney. I also carried along some soft-drinks and potato chips to munch along the way. For lunch I decided to order the choicest of curry’s and desserts from Kitchens Of India. What all did I order?
3 packets of Paneer Darbari, 2 packets of Mirch Ka Salan, 2 packets of Dal Bukhara. Took along all the 3 varieties of non-veg dishes namely Murgh Methi,Chicken Darbari and Chicken Chettinad. Took 5 packets each of these. Only rice and roti’s were missing. So I decided to cook rice and rotis at home and make different versions of rice namely Vegetable Biryani and Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani. Â For desserts we took away 2 packets each of Jodhpuri Moong Dal Halwa and Hazoori Petha Halwa. I even took some disposable plates, spoons and glasses along. Not to forget a 20 liter drum of mineral water too.
With all the parcels we went to the venue. We spread some bedsheets and all sat down in a row. We were even playing antakshari and dumbsherads. At 1.00 PM we had our lunch. It was great. All the guests liked the theme to enjoy in a farm house like this. They loved the food which we got. They said that they felt like we served them royal food in a great way.
We winded up at 5.00 PM because we had to reach back to our homes before it was very late. All my guests liked the party. In the end we un-folded the surprise that hubby dear had been promoted to the post of manager. That was the best time and it was one of the most unforgettable moment in my hubby’s life and mine too.
Thanks to Kitchens Of India for making my day a wonderful one 🙂 Thanks to Lord Ganesha for my hubby’s promotion.
