Dhaiyanche Fov is also known as flattened rice in yogurt or curd poha and is a no cook recipe. This recipe is very easy and can be made in 10 minutes.
During Diwali various types of recipes using poha or beaten rice are prepared in Goa. This “Dhaiyanche Fov” is one such recipe which is prepared in most of the Goan houses on the eve of Diwali.
“Dhaiyanche” means “mixed with curd” and “fov” means beaten rice or flattened rice. Along with this dish, we also prepare milk poha or doodanche fov, bataat fov/ avalakki bhaat, poha in coconut milk, poha in jaggery, etc.
It is very rare to find recipes made using curd in Goa. But on the occasion of Diwali many people make this dish to please Lord Krishna. This dish tastes really good due to the sweetness of sugar and cardamom flavor unlike the savory curd vermicelli.

Ingredients to make Dhaiyanche fov:
- Beaten rice: Beaten rice or flattened rice of good quality should be used in making this delicious recipe.
- Curd / Yogurt: Thick yogurt should be used in making this recipe.
- Sugar: To add the right amount of sweetness, little it of sugar is added to make poha in “dhai”.
- Cardamom: Cardamom is added to add flavor to the prepared Indian dish.
Steps to make no cook Indian style flattened rice in yogurt:
- Wash the beaten rice and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
- To a mixing bowl, add thick curd, sugar and salt. Beat this till curd becomes smooth and the sugar gets dissolved in it.
- Peel the cardamom pods and crush the seeds using mortar and pestle.
- Add this to the curd and sugar mixture.
- Add the washed beaten rice to curd and sugar mixture and mix well.

- ½ cup Beaten rice/poha
- 1 cup Thick curd
- 2 tablespoon Sugar
- 3 Cardamom / elaichi pods
- A pinch Salt
Instructions
- Wash the beaten rice and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
- To a mixing bowl, add thick curd, sugar and salt. Beat this till curd becomes smooth and the sugar gets dissolved in it.
- Peel the cardamom pods and crush the seeds using mortar and pestle.
- Add this to the curd and sugar mixture.
- Add the washed beaten rice to curd and sugar mixture and mix well.
