Stir fry made with raw green banana is known as kelyachi bhaji. This banana subzi is an under 20-minute recipe and is very easy. It tastes delicious too.
We make Indian green banana subzi once a week and I love to make it because it is very easy to make and perfect to go in our lunch box. My kid also loves it because it tastes like the famous potato subzi. In Konkani, “kele” means banana and “kelyachi” means made of banana. Hence the name kelyachi bhaji. “Bhaji” means stir fry.
Cooking raw banana is very easy. Once we peel it, we can chop it into pieces of desired sizes. We can cook raw banana just like potato. Most of the potato recipes can be made using raw banana. They can be steamed and mashed, boiled, deep-fried and used in stuffing. You can make raw banana cutlets and even make semolina coated raw banana fry (rava fried raw banana).
Health benefits of green raw banana:
They are full of fiber which ensures low cholesterol and helps in weight loss. Since they are rich in potassium, they help in maintaining blood pressure levels and kidney health. They are good source of vitamins and minerals.

First, we must peel the green banana. This is not difficult. Just apply oil to your palm and peel the raw banana using a peeler. Application of oil is necessary, else your hands will get dark. A peeler is needed in peeling raw green banana as the peel is very thick and since it is raw it won’t come off easily.
