Fortune has recently launched it’s new product “Fortune Refined 100% Rice Bran Oil”. Since I am a big fan of refined oils made by Fortune I thought I should try using this new Fortune Refined 100% Rice Bran oil.
Considering its numerous health benefits, it is ideal for use in day-to-day cooking just like any other refined oil.
Apart from cooking, it can be used for various types of beauty treatments. Read on below to know more about Fortune Refined 100% Rice Bran Oil and also see what all I prepared using this oil.
Rice Bran Oil is the world’s healthiest oil in terms of cholesterol reducing property amongst commonly used edible vegetable oils. This oil is a rich source of Oryzanol, Triglycerides, MUFA and PUFA which keep the heart and circulatory system healthier and younger. It also helps prevent cancer with anti-mutagenic nutrients like Tocotrienol and Phytosterols.

Decreases Cholesterol: Rice bran oil reduces blood triglycerides, which are the fat molecules in the blood.
Low levels of triglycerides result in low levels of cholesterol.
Helps protect from heart diseases: Rice Bran oil is high in Oryzanol content. This helps maintain HDL (Good cholesterol) and LDL (Bad cholesterol) in the blood which prevents heart diseases.
Helps clean blood vessels: MUFA(Mono-unsaturated Fatty Acid) and PUFA( Polly unsaturated fatty acids) play an important role in lowering bad cholesterol. A balanced ratio of PUFA and MUFA in rice bran oil keeps the production of bad cholesterol in check, which keep blood vessels clean.
Provides balanced nutrition: The body requires two kinds of fatty acids- one that provides energy and the other that is required for biological processes. Rice bran oil contains a balanced proportion of both, that helps the body receive balanced nutrition.
Helps prevent cancer: Tocotrienols and Phytosterols are anti-mutagenic elements found in rice bran oil that help prevent cancer.
Helps to have better skin: Squalene is an organic compound naturally produced by human skin cells and is natural moisturizer. Rice bran oil contains good amounts of it which prevent ageing of the skin.
Makes nervous system healthier: Vitamin E is essential for normal neurological functioning. Rice bran oil is a good source of natural Vitamin E and thus helps in developing a healthier nervous system.
Enhances the immune system: Antioxidants improve health by fighting free radicals that harm the immune system. Rice bran oil has natural antioxidants that help build stronger immunity.
Helps develop better hormonal health: Ferulic acid contents in rice bran oil have been found to have good effects on the concentration of endocrine hormones.
Less-oily healthy food: Cooking oils become sticky due to oxidation during frying. But rice bran oil is highly stable which keeps it non-sticky and the food absorbs less oil.

Apart from it’s use in cooking, Rice bran oil has been known as the beauty secret of East Asian women, and of Japanese and Korean women in particular. In these parts of the world, the oil is not only used in cooking but also applied directly to the skin. Squalene found in rice bran oil is an organic compound also naturally produced by human skin. It acts as a moisturizing lubricant which gives the skin a soft, smooth and a velvety appearance. Gamma oryzanol and vitamin E in rice bran oil also reduce tissue oxidation which slows down ageing of skin resulting in beautiful healthy skin texture and complexion.

Antioxidants in Rice Bran oil
Rice Bran oil contains several components that exhibit antioxidant properties. The antioxidant stability in Rice Bran oil remains near constant even when heated at frying temperatures. This essentially means that due to the activity of antioxidants in the oil, there are no molecular changes in the oil. The antioxidants present in Rice Bran oil include gamma-oryzanol, tocotrienols, tocopherols, and squalene.
Read on to understand the importance and benefits of each of these components:
Oryzanol: Lowers cholesterol & treats menopausal disorders
Oryzanol is a powerful antioxidant only found in Rice Bran oil. It is more active than Vitamin E in fighting free radicals. Oryzanol helps to lower cholesterol levels in the blood, reduces liver cholesterol synthesis and is effectively proven to relieve hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms.

Tocotrienols and Tocopherols: Prevents Cancer
Both types of Vitamin E, tocotrienols and tocopherols are natural antioxidants that help fight free radicals, a major cause of cancer. Tocotrienol is believed to vastly outperform Tocopherol in fighting free radicals and in preventing oxidation, it also helps lower cholesterol levels in the blood. Tocotrienol is a difficult nutrient to find but is abundant in Fortune Rice Bran oil.
Squalene: Protects the Skin& Cures Diabetes
Squalene which is present in Rice Bran oil is the key to younger looking skin. Known to soften and protect the skin, it effectively delays wrinkle formation. The antioxidants also protect the skin from sun damage.
Furthermore, Squalene is the main material used to build the insulin hormone. By consuming squalene, the pancreas can be repaired, thus curing diabetes.
While we cannot completely eliminate the effect of free radicals in our body, ensuring you get enough antioxidants in your body on a daily basis is a key to ensuring a long and healthy life.
Golden Yellow Free-flowing Oil |
This oil comes in 1 ltr ph, 2 t ljrar, 5 ltr jar, 15 ltr jar. I had a 2 ltr jar with a big handle which is very convenient to carry . The oil is golden yellow in color and it does not have any type of smell. The oil does not change the taste of food. It also does not change it’s state after heating and has a high heating point. It can be used in cooking any type of food veg/non-veg. It can also be used in baking i.e. while making eggless cakes. I have put up some of the pics of recipes which I prepared using this oil. This oil is become a part of my day-to-day cooking now on. 1 ltr of this oil costs Rs. 115/- and 2 ltr costs Rs. 230/- Normally I use refined Sunflower oil which costs Rs. 90/- per litre. But I don’t mind changing to Rice Bran Oil after knowing it’s numerous health benefits.

I some how disagree with some of the qualities of the rice bran oil.
It may be good from health point but one thing is there it smells horrible when hot. It has got a typical stinking smell.
In fact looking at the advertisement I bought 5 pouches but after using one pouch I returned back 4 and replaced with other non stinking oil.
Company has to do something to remove this smell unless it will not be a sucess product. Prople will buy once but there wont be repeat orders.

Hi Anonymous,
I dont know which brand you are talking about. If you could have soecified it could have been easy to know which rice bran oil stinks. As far as Fortune is concerned I dint have any such issues. I even hosted a party and used that oil and everythings was great.
