Weight loss cabbage soup is a detox soup made with cabbage, vegetables like tomatoes, green bell pepper, carrot and onion and seasoned with pepper, oregano, garlic, and salt. This fat burning cabbage soup is very easy to prepare on stove top and gets ready in 20-30 minutes.

What goes in making cabbage detox soup?
- Vegetables: Star ingredient in this recipe is cabbage which has detox properties and helps to keep you full. Other than cabbage I added onion, tomato, carrot, celery, and bell pepper. You may add zucchini, broccoli, and beans too.
- Seasoning: Pepper powder, oregano and garlic powder are used for seasoning. You may add red chili flakes or paprika if you want the soup to be a bit spicy.
- Vegetable broth: I have added vegetable broth in this recipe. You may replace it with water.
- Oil: Little bit of sunflower oil is used in this recipe. You may use any type of cooking oil.

To make it a zero-oil cabbage soup:
If you do not want to make this zero-oil soup, then simply do not add oil and sauté onions. Just dump all vegetables in the pot, add seasoning and broth or water and simmer till the vegetables are fork tender.
The simple detox cabbage soup does not taste bland. It has a mild flavor of vegetable broth and seasonings like pepper, garlic powder and oregano. This gives a delicious taste to the healthy cabbage soup.
The aroma of this cabbage soup for weight loss was so good that my teenager came to the kitchen asking what’s cooking. It is mainly because of onion, celery, and carrots.
How to cook cabbage soup for weight loss?
- Heat a large pot and add oil.
- After oil is heated, add onion and sauté till onion turns pinkish.
- On high heat, add the remaining vegetables in the pot, cover and cook for 5-8 minutes till the vegetables are tender.
- Add tomato puree, vegetable stock or water, black pepper powder, garlic powder, oregano and salt and mix well.
- After the vegetables starts boiling, reduce the heat to medium and simmer stirring occasionally.
- Cook with lid covered till vegetables turn soft for around 20-30 minutes.
- If needed adjust the seasoning and salt as per taste.
- Serve hot.
This soup is also called weight loss soup, miracle soup, wonder soup and weight watcher soup. It can be served to patients too as it is very healthy and full of nutrients.
It can be cooked in a pressure cooker too by dumping all vegetable, seasonings and broth and pressure cooking for 4-5 whistles. But in this recipe, I won’t recommend pressure cooking because it causes nutrient loss in vegetables being pressure cooked.
You may try to cook this healthy detox soup in an instant pot or slow cooker.

You may store the left-over soup in air-tight containers in the fridge for up to 5 days, re-heat in a microwave or stove top and enjoy the comforting soup.
