We all love cheese and eat cheese regularly. I love cooking with cheese. I make various dishes with cheese like stuffed cheese parathas, cheese sandwiches, cheesy pastas, etc. Go Cheese India had organised a gourmet cheese tasting #GoCheeseTasting session at Biere Club, Bangalore in association with Femina India and I was specially invited to attend the event. I was very excited when I heard that I will get a chance to meet the celebrity Chef Ranveer Brar and also get to taste his specially curated cheese themed menu and a delicious range of Go Gourmet Cheese paired perfectly with wine.
The event started with a stand-up comedy show by Sahil Shah which made us laugh non-stop.
Followed by this, Mr. Mahesh Israni from Go Cheese India spoke about the company. He also spoke about the 3 types of Go Cheese varieties – Cheddar, Colby and Gowda. ‘Go’ is derived from Gowardhan and has a dual meaning- apart from resonating with the Sanskrit word for “Cow”. The brand embodies an energetic spirit with the act of going. The brand therefore synergises well with the attitude and beliefs of the young generation of today. It caters to families that are modernised and westernised and who lead both busy and active lifestyles. Go consumers include young working couples, well travelled urban centric families with active children.
Go Cheese was launched in 2009 in India by Parag Milk Foods. This cheese is made from the best quality cow’s milk. Go cheese has the largest international quality cheese range with the promise of great taste! Go is also the largest supplier of cheese to not only hotels, restaurants and pizza, but also to street food stalls in India. Go Cheese range is available in Bulk Packs, Block and Shredded forms to make it convenient for use.
Soon after the introduction, Chef Ranveer Brar walked on the stage. He spoke about the different types of Go Cheese and how we can cook with cheese. Chef also broke some myths about cheese and told us 10 unique ways to serve cheese. Some of these were Chilli mushroom sweet and salt, gooey plums with cheese, starfruits with cheese, khakras with cheese, etc.
He also told us how to pair wine with cheese. According to the chef “The more mature the cheese, the darker should be the wine.” Chef also told us that taste, perception and matching is in head. Do what you feel like doing. I really liked this point made by the Chef.
During the event, we got to taste the menu specially curated by the Chef. First the cheese platter was served with 3 different types of Go Cheese namely Cheddar, Colby and Gowda.
After the cheese platter, we tasted some appetisers from the Chef’s menu. Dishes like The Beetroot Carpaccio With Herbed Almette And Mini Greens,Cheddar And Monterey Jack Cheese Nachos With Avocado Salsa and the Sliced Cheese, Biere Mustard, Tomato And Olive Bruschetta, Cheesy Pepper Agrodolce Calzone and Crumb-Fried Cheese With Chilly Grape Chutney. I loved the Beetroot Carpaccio With Herbed Almette And Mini Greens and Cheesy Pepper Agrodolce Calzone.
Soon after this we were served with desserts made with cheese. Saffron Cream Syllabub With Fresh Fruits And Biscotti Crumbles and an Amlette Cheese-Topped Hummingbird Cake With Edible Flowers. I loved both the desserts.
At the end of the event I got to interact with Chef Ranveer Brar 🙂 It was another dream come true to share the frame with one of the top chef’s of India.
We also got some goodie bags loaded with Go Cheese goodies to take home. My little one was happy to receive the goodie bag as she loves cheese… and yes! I will be creating more recipes with cheese now.
So do you love cheese? If yes…Say Cheese 🙂
