Moolyacho ross is a mildly spiced vegan radish curry made with radish, lentils (split pigeon peas), onion, spices and coconut. If you don’t add onion to this radish and lentil curry, it becomes no onion no garlic radish curry. In Goan language, radish is known as “moolo” and “ross” means curry. Hence this vegan Goan radish curry is known as moolyacho ross.
Goan Moolyacho Ross or Goan Radish Curry is a traditional Goan preparation which I learnt from my mom. Since my dad is a pure vegetarian, mom made this curry to eat along with rice. Steps to prepare Goan moolyacho ross is similar to Goan drumstick curry or sangacho ross, only difference is that black peppercorns are not added to radish curry.
