- Green peas: This masala fried green peas can be made with fresh or frozen green peas. The taste will not change if this recipe is made with fresh or frozen peas.
- Onion: I have used red onion in this green bean stir fry recipe. You may use any type of onion. Spring onion can also be used without the green part.
- Tomatoes: Use firm, fresh tomatoes to make this easy pea stir fry.
- Spices: Various simple and easily available spices are used in this recipe.1 green chili is added for heat. I have added chopped ginger and garlic. Apart from these, I have added turmeric powder, cumin powder and coriander powder which enhances the taste and flavor of this masala fried peas recipe.

How to cook stir fry green peas?
- Heat a pan and add oil.
- After oil gets heated, add onion and saute till onion turns pinkish.
- Add finely chopped green chili and mix well.
- Add finely chopped ginger and minced garlic and mix well.
- Cook till raw aroma of garlic disappears.
- Add chopped tomato and mix well. Cook till tomato turns soft.
- Add the spice powders namely – turmeric powder, cumin powder and coriander powder and mix well.
- Add fresh or frozen green peas and mix well.
- Add 1/4th cup water and mix well.
- Add salt to taste, stir and continue cooking stirring occasionally.
- Green peas will shrink after getting cooked.
- Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
How long to stir fry green peas?
If you are cooking frozen green peas, then cook till they appear fully thawed. For fresh green peas, cook till they appear shrunk.

If you are using dry green peas, soak them overnight or for 6 hours in water. After soaking, drain the water and add the soaked green peas in pressure cooker along with salt and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
