Butter garlic crabs is a dish I learnt from my sister-in-law. But this is a dish which is inspired from butter garlic prawns which is made in Goan beach side shacks. The dish is extremely easy to prepare and can be prepared by a beginner too. It turns out delicious and can be served as a side dish in a rice plate along with Goan prawns curry, fried fish, kismoor, ghosalyachi bhaji, khubyache sukhe and sol kadhi.
I had been to Goa last week on vacation. While returning back, mom gave me some cleaned and marinated crabs by packing them in a thermacol ice box. As soon as I reached home, I started cooking all delicious recipes with those crabs. One of them is this butter garlic crabs and others are crab masala and fried crabs.
This butter garlic crab recipe is very simple. I have used garlic flavored butter for extra flavor. You can use simple cooking butter too. Quantity of garlic to be added can also be altered as per your taste. Since the crabs were marinated with salt, I did not add extra salt to the recipe.
My hubby also loves crabs just like me. The little one just does not like them. She is a Bangalorean and not like us -Goans living in Bangalore. She even hates the fact that you have to break the crab shell and eat the crab meat. I am not sure if she will ever love crabs. Hoping that she does not turn into a pure vegetarian like her friends in school 🙂
