Mango season is still on and it is right time to relish this favorite fruit of the season. Here is the recipe of mango sheera with step by step pictures. It is also known as mango kesari or mango halwa and is a delicious tea time snack. You can make this sweet mango pudding either for breakfast or evening tea time snacks. In Goa, this sweet rava pudding is known as sheero. In South India, it is known as rava kesari or kesari bhaat and in North India, it is known as halwa. Some people add milk to this recipe. I prefer to cook it without milk.

Making this rava mango pudding is very easy. It is made just like traditional rava sheera. Mango is added in the last step. First dry roast rava or semolina. Then add sugar and ghee and mix well. Add hot boiling water and mix. Finally add mango pulp, crushed cardamom pods and crushed cashewnuts and mix well. Serve hot with a cup of tea or coffee.

Dry roast rava/semolina on low flame till aroma wafts in air.
Boil water.
Add sugar and ghee.
Mix well.
Pour hot water in sheera and mix. Rava/semolina will absorb water.
Add mango pulp and crushed cardamom pods and mix.
Garnish with crushed cashewnuts and mix.

Ingredients
- 1 cup rava / semolina
- 1 mango peeled and pureed or ¾ cup mango pulp
- 2 tablespoon ghee / clarified butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 cups water
- 6 cashewnuts broken
- To taste Salt
Instructions
- Heat a kadai and dry roast rava till aroma wafts in air.
- Add sugar and ghee and mix well.
- Heat 2 cups water and after it gets boiled, pour it in the kadai with rava.
- Rava will absorb water fast, stir well.
- Add mango pulp and crushed cardamom and mix well.
- Add crushed cashewnuts and well.
- Serve mango sheera with a cup of tea or coffee.
