Can I use prawns instead of shrimp?
Yes, you can make the same recipe with prawns too to make grilled prawns like – grilled prawns in recheado masala.
What is the difference between shrimp and prawn?
Though prawns and shrimp look similar in appearance, both are different. Prawns are larger in size than shrimp. Prawns have longer legs than shrimp. Also, prawns have branching gills and shrimp have plate like gills. Also, the body of prawn is straight, and shrimp has a tight curl.
Shrimp and prawns can be eaten in many ways. You can add them to gravy or curry as in Goan prawns curry or make prawns pulao or grill or stir fry as in shrimp stir fry with mayonnaise, or fry them as in pepper prawns.

Yes, you can put raw shrimp on grill, just marinade it nicely and then grill it.
Is it better to grill shrimp with the shell on or off?
You can grill shrimp with shell or peeled. Some people like to cook shrimp in shell as it leaves the shrimp moist and juicy. But my family likes it peeled. Sometimes, I keep a little part of shrimp shell near the tail like how I did with these juicy coconut shrimp.

How long can you marinate shrimp for making juicy spicy shrimp skewers?
Since I have added lemon juice in the shrimp skewer marinade, I would recommend to marinate for less than 30 minutes as it is acidic. If you marinate this for longer the acid from lemon juice will break the shrimp meat making it mushy. However, if you are using non-acidic marinade like only using spices or herbs and olive oil, you may marinate it even for an hour or two.
Is grilled shrimp healthy?
If you at seafood, then shrimp is great food to include in diet. Shrimp is rich in protein and several vitamins and minerals. It also contains antioxidants that protects your cells against damage. As per some studies, shrimp contains antioxidant named astaxanthin which helps prevent wrinkles and lessens sun damage. Shrimp are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and may promote heart and brain health.
How to serve shrimp grilled on skewers?
Serve the grilled shrimp as a side dish with rice and salad or pasta. You can even add them in these shrimp rice paper rolls.

We love grilled shrimps and prawns and eat them a lot, particularly in summer. I made these spicy shrimp skewers as an appetiser and they were a big hit. Your tip about not marinating them for more than 30 minutes because of the lemon juice is very useful to know.
