Cauliflower Pepper Fry

Pepper cauliflower or cauliflower pepper fry is a delicious and nutritious side dish which can be served for lunch along with jeera rice and spinach dal. The cauliflower recipe is very simple and easy to cook and is so good. This is a simple cauliflower fry with the taste of salt and pepper.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium cauliflower chopped into small florets
  • 1 medium onion cut straight
  • 5 garlic pods finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves for garnish
  • To taste salt

For seasoning:

  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 teaspoon urad dal/split black gram
  • 1 red chili torn into 2 pieces
  • 2 tablespoon oil

Instructions

  • Boil water and add cauliflower florets to it. Switch off the heat after 10 minutes and let the cauliflower remain in hot boiling water. The cauliflower should retain crispiness and should not be over cooked. You can even blanch the cauliflower.
  • Heat a kadai or pan and add oil. After oil gets heated, add mustard seeds.
  • After mustard seeds flutter, add dry red chili and urad dal or Bengal gram dal.
  • After urad dal turns slightly brownish, add curry leaves, and chopped garlic.
  • Fry the curry leaves till they turn crispy.
  • Add chopped onion and fry till it turns pinkish.
  • Next add the boiled cauliflower florets. Do not add water.
  • Add black pepper powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, salt to taste and toss.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
