Chocolate and Fruit Custard

Fruit Custard recipe with custard powder is an easy dessert recipe which can be prepared at home. This custard dessert is also known as fruit salad with custard. Fruits like mango, chickoo, apple, banana, papaya and pomegranate can be added. I have given a twist to the fruit custard by adding yummy BeeTee’s melt in mouth chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon custard powder
  • 6 tablespoon sugar
  • 500 ml milk
  • 1 medium sized apple
  • 2 small bananas
  • 1 small pomegranate
  • Few pieces Bee Tees Melt chocolate

Instructions

  • In a small mixing bowl, add 2 tablespoon custard powder with 3 tablespoon warm milk and stir to make lump free mixture and keep aside.
  • Heat milk in a deep bottomed pan, add sugar and stir till sugar gets dissolved.
  • When milk is about to boil (not yet boiling), add 1 tablespoon of prepared custard paste from the small mixing bowl and mix.
  • Continue adding the remaining custard paste in parts and mix well.
  • Taste and add more sugar if needed.
  • Reduce the heat to low and stir till custard thickens. The custard should be bit thick and of flowing consistency. Remember that custard will thicken after cooling too. So, you can stop cooking when your preferred consistency is reached.
  • Cool and refrigerate.

To make custard with fruits and chocolate:

  • Cut apple into small pieces
  • Peel and cut banana into small slices.
  • Peel pomegranate and separate the red shiny arils.
  • Cut the BeeTee’s melt in chocolate into small pieces.
  • Mix and add the chopped fruits to a serving bowl or serving cups.
  • Remove the chilled custard from the refrigerator and whisk.
  • Pour chilled custard on top of the chopped fruits.
  • Garnish with chocolate pieces and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Fruits should be added to custard only before serving, else water from fruits will make the custard runny.
  • Always use warm milk to dissolve custard powder else lumps will be formed while mixing milk and custard powder.
  • Sugar quantity can be altered as per taste.
  • Other fruits like mango, grapes, chickoo and papaya can be added.
  • Dry fruits, tutti fruity and jelly pieces can also be added.
