Detox Cabbage Soup for Weight-Loss

Weight loss cabbage soup is a detox soup made with cabbage, vegetables like tomatoes, green bell pepper, carrot and onion and seasoned with pepper, oregano, garlic, and salt. This fat burning cabbage soup is very easy to prepare on stove top and gets ready in 20-30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 head of cabbage chopped
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 4 celery stalks sliced
  • 2 medium tomatoes chopped
  • 1 large carrot sliced
  • 1 cup tomato puree made from 2 tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup spring onion greens chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper chopped
  • 6-7 cups vegetable broth or water
  • 2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoon oil
  • To taste salt

Instructions

  • Heat a large pot and add oil.
  • After oil is heated, add onion and sauté till onion turns pinkish.
  • On high heat, add the remaining vegetables in the pot, cover and cook for 5-8 minutes till the vegetables are tender.
  • Add tomato puree, vegetable stock or water, black pepper powder, garlic powder, oregano and salt and mix well.
  • After the vegetables starts boiling, reduce the heat to medium and simmer stirring occasionally.
  • Cook with lid covered till vegetables turn soft for around 20-30 minutes.
  • If needed adjust the seasoning and salt as per taste.
  • Serve hot.

Notes

  • You may chop all vegetables and store them in air-tight containers in fridge and use them just before cooking the cabbage detox soup for weight loss.
  • If you are pressed for time, then you may use frozen veggies too. But I recommend using fresh vegetables to reap maximum health benefits.
  • You may store the left-over soup in air-tight containers in the fridge for up to 5 days, re-heat in a microwave or stove top and enjoy the comforting soup.
