Doodanche Fov | Flattened Rice In Milk | Dudh Poha

Doodanche fov is a Goan sweet dish made using flattened rice or beaten rice, milk and sugar. Cardamom is added for providing flavour. This sweet dudh poha recipe with milk is usually made for Indian festivals like Diwali.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flattened rice poha/fov/avalakki
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder or 4 crushed cardamom pods crushed

Instructions

  • Wash and soak the beaten rice in water for 10 - 15 minutes.
  • Once it is soft, heat 1/2 cup water, add beaten rice to it and boil.
  • Once it starts boiling, add milk and boil for 8-10 minutes stirring occasionally.
  • Add sugar and stir. Add crushed cardamom pods/cardamom powder and stir well.
  • Garnish with kesar ( saffron) if needed.

This can be served hot/chilled.
You may also add dry fruits like raisins and cashew nuts to this dudh poha recipe.
