Equipment

  • 1 Frying pan

Ingredients

For frying okra:

For the coating the ladyfingers:

  • ½ cup rava/semolina
  • ¼ cup rice flour
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • In a small mixing bowl or plate, add rava, rice flour, chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix and keep aside.
  • Wash the okra and pat dry. Cut the ladyfingers lengthwise into 2 pieces after chopping off the head/stem. If the ladyfingers are too big in length, cut them into halves first horizontally then cut vertically so that you get four pieces.
  • Apply chili powder, turmeric powder and salt to the ladyfingers and keep aside for 10 minutes. You can even apply a teaspoon of garam masala. This is optional and it adds extra taste to this delicious dish.
  • Roll and coat the ladyfingers in rava and rice flour mixture.
  • Heat a frying pan and spread 1 tablespoon oil.
  • Arrange the rava coated ladyfingers inside the frying pan one by one.
  • Spread 1-2 tablespoon oil on top of the rava coated ladyfingers. Shallow fry on low flame by covering the frying pan.
  • After 10 minutes, flip to the other side and fry for another 10 minutes.
  • Check whether the ladyfingers are cooked. When they turn crispy, it is time to switch off the gas/heat.
