  • 2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup green peas
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tablespoon ghee
  • 2 cardamom pods crushed
  • 3 cloves
  • 4-5 black peppercorns
  • 1 tablespoon pulao masala
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon kasuri methi
  • 1 teaspoon salt as per taste

Instructions

  • Wash the Basmati rice and keep aside for 15 minutes.
  • In a pressure cooker, add ghee.
  • After ghee gets heated, add the cumin seeds, bay leaves, cloves, black peppercorns, cinnamon and crushed cardamon pods.
  • Add the green peas and fry for 5 minutes.
  • Add the pulao masala and mix well.
  • Next step is to add the Basmati rice, so add washed Basmati rice, mix everything nicely and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add 2 cups water, kasuri methi, salt to taste and mix well.

Notes

  • You might need to increase/decrease the number of whistles depending on the type of cooker you use. I used a 2-litre pressure cooker and hence took 3 whistles for 1 cup basmati rice.
  • Rice to water ration should always be 1:2 when cooking rice in pressure cooker. So if you add 1.5 cups of rice, then add 3 cups of water.
  • Always use the same cup for measuring rice and water.
