Ingredients

  • 1 cup grated paneer / Indian cottage cheese
  • 1 medium sized onion finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chat masala
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • To taste Salt

For dough:

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoon oil
  • 1 cup water or as required

Instructions

Make the dough ready:

  • First make the dough ready by mixing the whole wheat flour with water, oil and salt. Remember that while adding water, add little at a time and keep on mixing with your fingers till dough of semi-soft consistency is reached.
  • Cover and keep the dough aside for 30 minutes. When the dough is resting, make the stuffing ready.

Make the stuffing ready:

  • Take a mixing bowl and add grated paneer, finely chopped onion, red chili powder, chat masala and salt. Mix well.

Let us start making the parathas:

  • Make small balls from the dough of equal size. The size should be a little bigger than the table tennis ball.
  • Roll the dough ball into a little bit of dry wheat flour and roll it into small thick flat round shape.
  • Place 2 tablespoon of the stuffing on it and close from all sides making a ball.
  • Dust it in dry whole wheat flour and roll it into bigger round shapes, just like a chapati.
  • If you see any air bubbles while rolling, simply pat it gently with your fingertips.
  • Apply 1 teaspoon ghee on the frying pan and place the paratha on it.
  • After 5 minutes, apply 1 teaspoon ghee on the upper side and turn. Fry for 5 minutes.
  • The paratha is done. Serve it with curds or any dish.

Notes

You can add finely chopped coriander leaves and finely chopped green chillies to the stuffing.
